We’re excited to announce that TiDB Cloud has been integrated with Vercel, an end-to-end platform for front-end developers to quickly develop, preview, ship, and iterate web applications.
TiDB Cloud is a fully-managed Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) powered by TiDB, an open source, distributed, MySQL-compatible database with Hybrid Transactional and Analytical Processing (HTAP) capability.
With the integration of TiDB Cloud and Vercel, building web applications becomes much faster, more streamlined, and more automated for front-end teams. Developers are freed from tedious and time-consuming configurations and focus on their designing and coding.
How TiDB Cloud Integration accelerates your project
Before the TiDB Cloud integration was released, if you deployed a project with a DBaaS like TiDB Cloud on Vercel, you had to manually configure the database cluster environment variables. This can be time-consuming—especially if you were new to either Vercel or TiDB Cloud.
When you add the TiDB Cloud integration, you can easily connect your Vercel projects to TiDB Cloud with just a few clicks. Configurations of deployment, connection, and environment variables such as getting the database cluster address and credentials, and security settings modification, are predefined and automated. This saves you a lot of time and effort.

TiDB Cloud Starter: a prebuilt solution
We’ve also published a prebuilt solution on Vercel Template: TiDB Cloud Starter. This is a demo of an online bookstore application built on TiDB Cloud and Next.js, through which you can find and rate books of various categories. You can also perform create, read, update and delete (CRUD) operations such as viewing book details, adding and deleting ratings, and editing book inventory.
This template lets you quickly try TiDB Cloud integration. You’ll see how smoothly and quickly it can be to deploy your application on TiDB Cloud. You can also use this demo as a base for building your own applications.
