We’re excited to announce that another edition to TiDB Future App Hackathon will be taking place between July 26 – August 23, 2024! Our first global Hackathon last year was an amazing success with almost 1,500 participants from 87 countries (see the recap blog for more details) and we’re looking forward to an even bigger event this year.
During this year’s Hackathon, participants will have an opportunity to develop new applications leveraging the new Vector Search feature on TiDB Serverless. We have seen amazing growth in AI and Machine Learning applications over the past few years, and we’re excited to see what TiDB community members will build to leverage our new Vector Search feature.
We will have over $US 30k in prizes this year, and beyond prizes, we want the Hackathon to provide opportunities for participants to expand your network and work with like-minded developers while working with the latest technologies. We also hope that your participation in the TiDB Future App Hackathon can help add to your professional portfolio and we encourage you to check out this podcast episode with Festus Idowu and Victor Olufemi when we discussed their project from last year’s Hackathon.
Get Ready to Build Innovative Gen-AI and LLM Applications on TiDB Serverless with Vector Search
We were pleasantly surprised with an amazing number of AI and applications last year on TiDB Serverless. With the new Vector Search feature this year, we expect to see even more leading-edge applications in areas such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Similarity Search, Natural Language Processing and others as developers will be able to quickly integrate vector search functionalities without worrying about infrastructure complexity on TiDB Serverless.
This year’s Hackathon will again be hosted on Devpost and the Hackathon page is scheduled to go live on July 15, 2024. The Hackathon page will have all the details on event logistics, developer resources, judging criteria, etc.
In the meantime, you can join the TiDB Community Discord where communications and support will be provided for the Hackathon. There you’ll find the Hackathon 2024 channel where you will be able to ask questions and find team mates (each team can have up to 4 members). We’re also organizing a webinar for TiDB Vector Search on June 26th, and there will be a new podcast episode to help you learn more and generate ideas for your Hackathon projects.
Mark your calendars for this year’s TiDB Future App Hackathon between July 26 – August 23 and please sign up to participate when the event page goes live on July 15, 2024!
